While most ‘macho’ men run away from bright “effeminate” colours, it is fascinating to see the colours worn by the martial Rajput men of India, who still exist in an extremely patriarchal society. One in which women still hide their faces in the presence of a man.
If there was one picture that could define the point at which I realised that I could turn to photography for a living, it was this image. This was the first image I ever sold as an art print and is one that I have turned to for artistic and sometimes fashion inspiration (yes, I own multiple pairs of striped socks in an array of colours, all inspired by this gentleman here. I still haven’t managed to find this shade of pink though.).
